Democratic Cognitive Dissonance
“Democrats had a lot of harsh things to say about former President George W. Bush—but you’ll search in vain for anything comparably menacing, anything that even hinted at an appeal to violence.”—Paul Krugman, New York Times

Quick question, how often the media gave these anti-Bush protesters a wide, 24/7 outlet to spill their vile contemptuous rhetoric? Hint: None. The distinction is clear, none of these folks were given the air time and none were promoted so heavily–Tea Party is on the news with their radical views, packaged under guise of freedom, constitution, and marinated ignorance, and force feed as a “viable” point of view to the rest of the country.
The point is that the Tea Party is being promoted on a daily basis while these folks, that are only visible through a misery photos on the Internet, were not. Now take a hike.
Veil, the media coverage on the Tea Party serves the Democrats wonnderfully. When anyone stands in legitimate, reasoned opposition to one of President Obama’s policies, the SATURATED coverage of the racist, ignorant, flailing Tea Partiers allows the rest of us to be marginalized right along with them.
Excellent post. (Any time someone makes the Keynes-worshipping Krugman eat his own short-sighted words, I give a standing ovation.)
Thanks, Joe. Discrediting Krugman is one of my favorite hobbies. I’ll never understand how a once-serious academic could sell his soul on the altar of political hackery.
THE TEA-BAGGERS ARE JUST THAT–ANTI DEMOCRAT-NO MATTER WHAT THE AGENDA. THEY ARE FOLLOWING THE KOOL-AID MAKERS…RUSH..SEAN..GLEN..ETC. ALL THIS PEOPLE DO IS INCITE RIOTS FROM ANTI-AMERICAN NEO-NAZIS AND CRAZIES THAT REALLY DO WANT TO DO SOMETHING ANTI-GOVERNMENT…LIKE SHOOT UP GOVERNMENT AGENCYS, OR FLY THEIR PLANES INTO GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS.
Woa. Thankyou for sharing. I certainly did not think about this particular issue in that way before and it opened some serious discussion for me on this topic.
